AEGIS - Which VO and how you should join
From EGEE-see WIki
To be authorized to use the Grid and do useful work with it (e.g. submit jobs, transfer files etc) you have to belong to a Virtual Organization (VO); a VO is a group of users usually working on the same project and using the same application software on the Grid. A list of existing EGEE VOs is available at https://lcg-registrar.cern.ch/virtual_organization.html
Enroll into an existing VO
If you are an experienced Grid user you are already familiar with the concept of VO and you may already belong to one of them. If you participate in one of the LHC experiments (like Atlas, CMS etc) there are already respective established VOs. If you want to join you should contact the appropriate VO manager. General information on how to register can be found at http://lcg-registrar.cern.ch/
Introducing a new application
If you have your own application that you want to deploy in EGEE you may use one of the existing VOs (if your application suites the context of this VO) or you may ask for a new VO to be established. Note that the later is a more complicated process and will apply only for large VOs which will introduce a complete new field of applications. New application requests are evaluated by the EGEE Generic Application Advisory Panel (EGAAP). To find more information about EGAAP visit http://egee-na4.ct.infn.it/egaap.
At the time being a formal procedure for new application evaluation has not been defined. The plan is to establish a small EGAAP-SEE that will assess new applications based on criteria followed by EGAAP but with relaxed requirements. Keep in mind though that the applications that will be deployed in the SEE-VO will be able to run only in the SEE clusters. Also users registered to SEE-VO may be able to utilize only the SEE resources and not all of the EGEE testbed.
The AEGIS-VO
AEGIS VO is the Virtual Organisation of AEGIS. In order to become a member of AEGIS VO you must be affiliated with an academic, research, or education organisation which has signed the AEGIS Memorandum of Understanding or institution with a Grid site supporting AEGIS VO. You also had to accept AEGIS VO Acceptable Use Policy and all documents it refers to.
To apply for AEGIS VO membership, you must have a valid digital certificate, and it should be already imported in your web browser. If you don't have a certificate, you should contact AEGIS Certification Authority (AEGIS CA) in order to get one. Once you obtain a certificate and import it into your web browser, you can apply for AEGIS VO membership on AEGIS VOMS web page:https://se.phy.bg.ac.yu:8443/voms/aegis/
After you confirm your request, you will be contacted by one of AEGIS VO managers to verify your affiliation with some of AEGIS member institutions.
