According to EGEE-SEE policy there are three different types of perspective users:

  1. New experimental users; and users interested in gridifying their existing application.
  2. New production users: those ready to run their application in the production mode
  3. Experienced production users: (High Energy Physics, Bio-Medical) that want to use the regional Grid.

New experimental users include people who are not sure what the Grid can offer to them and they want to get acquainted with the Grid tools and APIs offered by EGEE. For this reason they are instructed to use the GILDA testbed ( https://gilda.ct.infn.it ), accessible though the GENIUS portal ( https://grid-tutor.ct.infn.it ). GILDA is a Grid Testbed based on LCG-2 middleware like EGEE does. This testbed is open for everyone to use and experiment with, through a web-based user-friendly interface.

GILDA will help you to get a first idea if and how you can take advantage of the Grid for your applications. Then you may proceed to join EGEE as a production user. Information about GILDA/GENIOUS and with instructions how to join, are available in the GENIUS User’s Guide.
