Turkey Grid - The User Interface and how to gain access
From EGEE-see WIki
A User Interface is nothing more and nothing less than a Linux box having installed all the required client software, APIs and tools for developing and running applications in the Grid. In practice everyone can install and setup a UI with the required EGEE tools following the instructions in the LCG-2 Installation Guide.
Also the Italian SA1 EGEE Activity has made available a package called UIPnP which can be installed in any Linux machine and turn it into a User Interface (you can even install it as a regular non-root user). Note though that it is preconfigured for accessing the Italian EGEE sites and some manual configuration steps are required at the moment in order to be useful for EGEE-SEE users (for instructions see How to customize UIPnP for SEE-VO).
There is also a chance that your institute may already have setup a UI machine so you can ask from your local administrator to create an account for you there.
If you don’t have access to a User Interface or you can’t (or don’t want to) install your own UI, you may request a acconut at a pre-installed UI. Currently, Turkey Grid infrastructure (TR-Grid) provides two User Interface nodes so that users can get benefit from grid resources through these nodes. The UIs for TR-Grid users are "levrek.ulakbim.gov.tr" and "rower.grid.metu.edu.tr". Only users holding a valid TR-Grid user certificate can get an account in one of the UI machines. To apply for an account, first users must read the TR-Grid User Policy Document and accept all the remarks in this document. Then the users must provide the following information via e-mail to the address
grid-teknik@ulakbim.gov.tr:
1. Official e-mail address
2. Name of the institution of the applicant and his/her position in the institution
3. Physical contact address and phone number
4. Name and description of the grid application, explanation of why grid infrastructure is required
5. Application requirements such as libraries, compilers, package programs, server/user license
6. Approximate CPU hour required
7. Approximate Storage required
8. Static IP address to have access to the UI
The application is evaluated according to the specifications mentioned in the user policy document and within 3 days the applicant is notified about the status of his/her application.
